SMTP client: tries EHLO now always first Changed the behavior of the SMTP client. Now always an EHLO greeting is sent, no matter what kind of greeting text the server had sent. If the EHLO failed, an HELO greeting is tried as fall back. This is the behavior RFC 2821 requires (section 3.2). This change will fix setups that were not possible to sent to a server because that requires AUTH but hadn't said ``ESMTP'' in its greeting message. meillo@36 228 # Of course, Automake must honor this variable whenever it calls a

meillo@36 241 # a relative $ac_aux_dir
meillo@36 242 #
meillo@36 243 # The reason of the latter failure is that $top_srcdir and $ac_aux_dir

meillo@36 245 # harmless because $srcdir is `.', but things will broke when you
meillo@36 246 # start a VPATH build or use an absolute $srcdir.
meillo@36 247 #
meillo@36 248 # So we could use something similar to $top_srcdir/$ac_aux_dir/missing,

meillo@36 250 # am_aux_dir='\$(top_srcdir)/'`expr "$ac_aux_dir" : "$srcdir//*\(.*\)"`
meillo@36 251 # and then we would define $MISSING as
meillo@36 252 # MISSING="\${SHELL} $am_aux_dir/missing"

meillo@36 256 # configure, and could therefore not use this "fixed" $ac_aux_dir.
